CAMP REPORT
On the field: Right-hander Freddy Peralta allowed his first runs of the spring in a 6-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds in Goodyear, Ariz. Peralta allowed two hits and three runs, including a home run by Kyle Farmer, with three walks and two strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings.
“He didn’t have great fastball command today,” manager Craig Counsell said. “It’s tough to pitch without that. He didn’t get ahead in the counts; a little erratic with his fastball. The second inning, he really got through it with his slider. He got a big double play with his slider. So, that was a good sign.”
Jacob Nottingham, a catcher by trade who played first base, had a couple of hits and made an outstanding defensive play in the ninth behind Jesus Castillo, who finished with two scoreless innings.
“He’s made some big adjustments offensively, as far as what he’s doing at the plate,” Counsell said. “I expected it to take a little longer to kick in and see some success. The thing I’m noticing is he’s just hitting the ball harder, in batting practice, in games. It’s really coming off his bat much better than it did the last couple of years.”
River Falls native J.P. Feyereisen had his best outing of the spring, pitching a scoreless inning with three strikeouts.

Cactus juice: Infielder Luis Urías, recovering from hamate surgery in his left hand in late January, will visit his surgeon, Don Sheridan, on Friday with the expectation of being cleared to face live pitching in batting practice. Urías has been taking regular BP, but facing pitchers will be the last step before being allowed to play in games.
“A couple of times of that, and if there’s no adverse reactions, he’s ready to go (in games), Counsell said. “We’re looking toward the end of next week, if we stay on schedule.” Urías remains hopeful of being ready to play by opening day with the Brewers but that would be an aggressive schedule.
Countdown: 20 days until the Brewers’ season opener on March 26.
