Good City at Fiserv Forum closes.

Move is temporary after wave of cancellations

- Kathy Flanigan

Good City Downtown, the craft brewery’s location at 333 W. Juneau Ave., announced Friday that it will close until further notice.

“As a result of the suspension of the NBA season and the numerous largescale event cancellations in Milwaukee, Good City Brewing will be closing our downtown taproom until further notice,” said co-founder and CEO Dan Katt.

“We will continue to book and host private events. Our east side taproom and brewery will remain open.”

Good City opened the second location across from Fiserv Forum in January 2019 with 32 taps and an open kitchen, indoor seating for 200 and garage doors that opened to the entertainment block. Good City fermented sour beers there and kept a pilot brewery just outside the kitchen.

It was the first tenant in the new arena’s entertainment district.

Katt didn’t have information on the number of employees affected by the closure: “We are still working through specifics on staffing levels during this downtime.”

He called it “the biggest challenge we have ever faced.”

The original Good City brewery and taproom, 2108 N. Farwell Ave., will remain open.

Good City wasn’t the first Milwaukee craft brewery to close because of concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. Lakefront Brewery suspended tours and special events, and closed its beer hall and restaurant, starting Friday. Several other breweries suspended or limited participation in their tours.
