Giannis has big celebration plans

Star would take Bucks to Greece after title

- Matt Velazquez

It may not be clear when or if the NBA season will restart, but Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo knows exactly how he would prefer to celebrate a potential championship.

In an interview with teammate Pat Connaughton during the Athletes Doone ing Good Radiothon on Thursday, Antetokounmpo talked about numerous subjects, including his work ethic, Greek Freak nickname, playing basketball with his brothers, spending time with his young son and more. At the end of the discussion, Connaughton mentioned that he has never been to Greece and asked the reigning MVP what the ideal offseason destination would be for partying with a championship trophy.

"Before all this happened with COVID-19, I was talking about taking the team on a trip to Greece in Mykonos," Antetokounmpo said. "Mykonos is of the best islands in Greece, it's a party island. You cannot go there with your significant other, you got to be by yourself. It's got to be a boys' trip.

“Obviously, we have Santorini, Santorini's really romantic. It has the best sunset and sunrise in the world. You can take your significant other there.

"I had the opportunity to go last year – I went with (Eric) Bledsoe and Brook (Lopez) to Mykonos – and I was kind of sad I wasn't able to bring the whole team to experience what we

went through. So definitely, I think, after we win the championship and we're holding the trophy and we're all smoking a cigar like M.J., we can all do that in Mykonos.”

According to multiple reports, the NBA is making plans to continue the 2019-20 season with Walt Disney World in Orlando likely hosting some or all of the teams in a campus setting to insulate against players being exposed to coronavirus. Games could potentially start as soon as mid-July but would not include fans.

The Bucks were a league-best 53-12 when play was suspended in March.

The Athletes Doing Good Radiothon with Connaughton runs from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday on ESPN Milwaukee and ESPN Madison.

Connaughton's full interview with Antetokounmpo came at the end of the second hour of The Show with Gabe & Chewy.
