What’s playing at area drive-in movie theaters

Here’s what’s at Milwaukee-area pop-up drive-in movie venues this week. Check the websites for updates and each venue’s safety precaution­s. Reminder: Because they’re the weather can be a factor, so check ahead.

Marcus Theatres’ Parking Lot Cinema

This weekend, the theater chain opens a second drive-in location in the Milwaukee area, at the South Shore Cinema, 7261 S. 13th St., Oak Creek. The South Shore is showing “The Fast & the Furious” and “Furious 7,” at 9 p.m. Friday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Marcus’ “original” pop-up drive-in at the Majestic Cinema, 770 Springdale Road, Brookfield, is showing a twin bill of “Zootopia” and “The Avengers.” The movies start at 9 p.m. Friday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Milky Way Drive-in Theatre

The Milky Way continues in the parking lot at the Milwaukee Milkmen’s baseball stadium at 7900 Crystal Ridge Drive, Franklin (it’s being renamed Franklin Field). Admission is $35 per car per movie. Tickets must be ordered online at

The Marcus Performing Arts Center, 929 N. Water St., wraps up its drive-in season on the top level of the parking deck across State Street. It’s free, but you must register online (

to get a digital ticket. The gates open at 6:30 p.m.; the movies start at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, Fox-Bay Cinema Grill in Whitefish Bay is showing what likely is the first “real” opening-week movie: Jon Stewart’s politics comedy

Both Fox-Bay and the Marcus theaters that have been reopened since the tightest restrictio­ns of the coronaviru­s pandemic eased are employing safety measures, from limiting indoor seating to ensuring social distancing and instigatin­g stricter cleaning regimens.

Other southeast Wisconsin indoor theaters that are back open include the Hartford Theatre and the West Bend Cinema.
