WAUKESHA – A violent domestic incident that erupted into gunfire between police and a 45-year-old man left the suspect dead, reportedly from a selfinflicted gunshot wound.
Waukesha police did not immediately release the name of the man, who was found dead inside his home in the 2400 block of Pebble Valley Road following the Sunday night incident.
According to a report on the Waukesha Police Department’s Facebook page, the man tried to strangle a woman at the residence.
When police arrived, the man was armed with a handgun and allegedly threatened to shoot the woman, but she escaped with her three children while he spoke with police, the post said.
Following an exchange of gunfire, police entered the home and found the man dead “by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” according to authorities.
