Man killed in single-vehicle crash on northwest side

A 21-year-old man died in a fiery crash Sunday evening on Milwaukee’s northwest side, police said.

The man was driving fast about 8:45 p.m. Sunday when he lost control over railroad tracks in the 9100 block of West Bradley Road, police said.

The vehicle hit several trees and a light pole, then split in half and caught on fire, police said.

A passenger, a 19-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. He is in stable condition, police said.

WAUKESHA – A violent domestic incident that erupted into gunfire between police and a 45-year-old man left the suspect dead, reportedly from a selfinflicted gunshot wound.

Waukesha police did not immediatel­y release the name of the man, who was found dead inside his home in the 2400 block of Pebble Valley Road following the Sunday night incident.

According to a report on the Waukesha Police Department’s Facebook page, the man tried to strangle a woman at the residence.

When police arrived, the man was armed with a handgun and allegedly threatened to shoot the woman, but she escaped with her three children while he spoke with police, the post said.

Following an exchange of gunfire, police entered the home and found the man dead “by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” according to authoritie­s.

North Division High School to offer cooling center

Milwaukeea­ns looking to cool down this week can stop by North Division High School for a reprieve from the heat.

With temperatur­es expected to climb into the 90s this week along with high humidity, the Milwaukee Health Department will open a cooling center Tuesday through Friday inside North Division, 1011 W. Center St. The center will operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

All who enter are expected to wear a mask and follow social distancing protocols.

The school will be air-conditione­d with water and meal service available. Please enter through the MKE REC entrance adjacent to the tennis courts.
