Former Braves all-star dies

Frank Bolling, a two-time all-star second baseman with the Milwaukee Braves, and the last player to hit a grand slam off Sandy Koufax, has died. He was 88.

Bolling died Saturday. He was diagnosed with cancer about five years ago.

Bolling played 12 seasons in the majors, including six with the Milwaukee Braves, and hit .254 with 106 home runs. He won a Gold Glove in 1958 with the Detroit Tigers.

Bolling was traded to Milwaukee after the 1960 and became an all-star in 1961 and 1962.

In 1965, Bolling hit the sixth and final grand slam that Koufax allowed in his Hall of Fame career, connecting at County Stadium. Bolling also homered in his first big league game, tagging Baltimore’s Don Larsen on opening day at Tiger Stadium in 1954.

BASKETBALL

Jamil Wilson scored 23 points as the Golden Eagles claimed a 79-70 victory over Red Scare, a team of mostly former Dayton players, in the TBT semifinals on Sunday in Columbus, Ohio.

The Marquette team will face Sideline Cancer on Tuesday for the $1 million-plus jackpot in the winner-take-all tournament.

BASEBALL

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge was held out of action for a second straight day Sunday due to a stiff neck.

The 2017 AL Rookie of the Year was scratched from a simulated game Saturday after waking up with a sore neck, and the right fielder was not included in either lineup for an intrasquad scrimmage Sunday.

SOCCER

Major League Soccer postponed a match between Toronto FC and D.C. United in Orlando, Florida, shortly before it was scheduled to begin Sunday morning because of one unconfirmed positive test and one inconclusi­ve test for the coronaviru­s.

The unconfirmed positive test was for a D.C. United player, while a Toronto player returned the inconclusi­ve test.
