$10K reward offered for capture of man accused of killing two

- Meg Jones

A $10,000 reward is being offered for the capture of a Fort Atkinson man accused of killing his sister and brotherin-law last month because he wasn’t named the executor of his father’s will.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said Monday it was offering the reward because Kevin P. Anderson hasn’t been seen since June 16 when Nedra Lemke called the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department to report a possible burglary. She said she and her husband, Jim, saw broken windows when they arrived to mow the lawn at her father’s home in the Town of Sumner, west of Fort Atkinson.

When a Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy arrived 12 minutes after Lemke’s call he saw a woman shot to death in the driveway, according to the criminal complaint. Jim Lemke’s body was later found, also shot, in the driveway.

When the deputy returned to his squad car to get a rifle and call a dispatcher with information about what he saw, someone — believed to be Anderson — began firing at him from the house. The deputy returned fire.

Several rounds hit the squad car, most to the driver’s area of the vehicle, according to the complaint. No one was hurt.

Three minutes after the deputy arrived at the scene, smoke could be seen coming from the home. It eventually burned to the ground. Anderson’s wife’s pickup truck was later found at the property. She told authorities her husband left their home on the morning of June 16 and she hadn’t seen him since.

Charges filed against Anderson in Jefferson County on June 24 include two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and arson. He was also charged as a felon in possession of a firearm.

The father of Anderson and Nedra Lemke died June 5 and a funeral was held a week later. Anderson’s wife told authorities that Anderson thought he was the executor of his father’s will but was unhappy to learn Jim Lemke had been appointed.

Anderson, 62, is described as 6 feet tall with blue eyes and balding brown hair and weighing about 200 pounds.

Anyone with information about Anderson’s whereabouts should contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at (920) 674-7311.
