For King & Country playing Wisconsin State Fair drive-in concert
Christian pop duo For King & Country is coming to the Wisconsin State Fair. Well not the fair itself, but one of its parking lots.
Brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone, which tied last week for the most nominations at the Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, will play a drive-in concert Sept. 12.
It’s arguably the biggest act to play the Milwaukee market since the coronavirus crisis upended the live music industry in mid-March. Major tours remain off the road, virtually all venues are closed, and major events, including Summerfest and the Wisconsin State Fair in the Milwaukee area, have been canceled.
But a scattering of drive-in concerts have popped up across the country in their absence, including Kapco Metal Stamping’s Live at the Lot series in Grafton this summer.
For King & Country actually headlined the Wisconsin State Fair Main
Stage last August. The group has four Grammys and seven No. 1 Christian singles to its name, including the latest “Together,” a collaboration with Kirk Franklin and Tori Kelly. Among the five Dove Award nominations, they’re up for Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for another Christian chart-topper, “Burn the Ships.”
Tickets are on sale now at
and the State Fair ticket office (7722 W. Greenfield Ave. in West Allis). They’re $200 for VIP spots, and $150 for general admission. Each vehicle will be permitted to have up to six passengers, and each vehicle will have a parking space on either side to ensure social distancing.
More details can be found on the Wisconsin State Fair site.
