Shorewood locals can add Fiddleheads to their catalog of cafe options when the coffee shop opens Jan. 11.

Fiddleheads Coffee Roasters, 4334 N. Oakland Ave., will be the chain's sixth cafe.

The coffee shop — open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends — will serve bakery items and breakfast and lunch meals, in addition to coffee.

Fiddleheads will occupy the 1,900square-foot building formerly used by the Sherwin-Williams paint store.

“We've been looking for the right location in the Shorewood area for over a decade,” said co-owner Ray Marcy.

Marcy thanked the building's owner, Derek Grams, for their year-long discussions that led to the coffee shop's upcoming grand opening.

“Shorewood has been key to our expansion plans, but we had been unable to find the perfect spot until this unique space came into the picture,” Marcy said.

Village President Allison Rozek said Fiddleheads will be a great addition to the area's homes and vibrant businesses.

“I'm sure I speak for the community when I say we can't wait to visit the cafe when the open sign is turned on,” said Rozek.

The building's north side will feature a patio and garage door.

Co-owner Mike Wroblewski said the three-season patio will be “unprecedented in the area.”

“With the patio seating and fire pit area flowing into our cafe, we believe our customers will enjoy fine coffee, great food and a wonderful setting to simply enjoy,” said Wroblewski.

Fiddleheads first opened in 1996 in Thiensville before expanding to Cedarburg, Mequon, Grafton and Menomonee Falls.

The cafe joins Colectivo, Stone Creek, City Market and Starbucks on the list of Shorewood coffee shops.

Additional Fiddleheads locations in downtown Milwaukee's BMO Tower and Wauwatosa are expected to open early this year and this spring, respectively.
