- Tom Daykin

A neighborhood-oriented food hall coming to Milwaukee’s Uptown Crossing area near the Wauwatosa border has announced some of its tenants.

North Avenue Market, 5900 W. North Ave., is being created within a former Associated Bank branch.

It is to open by August with food and beverage vendors, as well as other small businesses.

The 5,100-square-foot building’s renovations are to begin in March, said developer William Harris-Wimsatt.

It will feature a bar, Mosler’s Vault, that will be managed by the operators of

Bittercube, which makes bitters for cocktails and operates a nearby bar at 4828 W. Lisbon Ave.

Other vendors announced so far include Sharon’s Table soul food restaurant, Rubryx Coffee Shop, Juana Tacos, Mango’s Cafe and Arty’s Sweet Talk Cupcakes, Harris-Wimsatt said.

Opulent Studios will provide massages and facials. There also will be a vegan restaurant, with the name to be announced later, Harris-Wimsatt said.

Six additional spaces are available, he said.

The food vendor spots include one designated for a dessert business, Harris-Wimsatt said. There also is an office space for short- or long-term use.

The $1.5 million development expects to attract most of its customers from such nearby neighborhoods as Uptown Crossing, Washington Heights and East Tosa.

It will have a drive-through window, and also serve as a community gathering space with live entertainment.

Milwaukee’s other new food halls, which feature local food and beverage vendors, include Crossroads Collective, 2238 N. Farwell Ave., and Sherman Phoenix, 3536 W. Fond du Lac Ave.

Also, 3rd Street Market Hall, with over 20 vendors, is to open this spring at The Avenue, the redeveloped former Grand Avenue mall, 275 W. Wisconsin Ave.
