How many LEGO Friends girls are there?

Dear Amy: I have to write a research paper about an important historical figure for my history class this semester. Are there any resources online that can help with writing and research?

Dear Kevin: The first step in research is to narrow down your topic. For example, if you’re interested in the Supreme Court, you could focus on a particular justice, such as Thurgood Marshall.

You could concentrate on three main topics: his childhood, career and notable accomplishments. Or you might prefer focusing on his time served on the Supreme Court, in which case you could research major issues during his tenure, and his legacy.

Once you narrow your topic, it’s time to begin your research. There are many reputable sources online, including the Smithsonian, si.edu, and the Library of Congress, loc.gov. Once you’ve assembled your facts, create an outline to guide you in your writing. An outline organizes your main topics and subtopics, saves time and makes writing easier.
