Player of the week

Clare Diener, Cedarburg: The junior set two records as the Bulldogs closed the regular season with a loss to Hartford on Tuesday and a win over Port Washington on Friday. Diener, a 5foot-9 guard, scored 21 points against Hartford and with 18 rebounds tied a 38-year-old school record. At Port Washington, she hit 14 of 21 shots including 5 for 9 from three-point range for a school record 39 points in a 76-30 win. She leads the team In scoring (20.7 ppg) and rebounding (9.1 rpg).

Team of the week

Germantown: The outright Greater Metro Conference title belongs to the Warhawks thanks to victories over Brookfield East and Sussex Hamilton. Senior guard Natalie Palzkill tied for the team lead in scoring in those games (15.5 ppg) while averaging a team-high 9.5 rebounds. Sophomore guard Kamorea Arnold also averaged 15.5 points to go with 4.5 rebounds and two assists. Jaelyn Acker, a senior guard, added 14.5 points and 4.5 rebounds. The victories helped the Warhawks reclaim the area's top ranking and close the regular season with an eight-game winning streak during which the average margin of victory

was 26.7 points.

Coming up

The WIAA tournament begins Tuesday, but the postseason takes off Friday with a number of top matches in the regional semifinals. Here are a few.

West Bend West at Slinger, 7 p.m. Friday: The North Shore co-champions split two games this season with each winning on its home court. West won the last meeting Friday.

New Berlin West at Pewaukee, 7 p.m. Friday: Pewaukee won a share of the Woodland West title with New Berlin Eisenhower but split two games with West in December.

Catholic Memorial at New Berlin Eisenhower, 7 p.m. Friday: Assuming Memorial gets past Whitnall on Tuesday it will put its experience of facing the best in the Classic 8 to the test against one of the elite teams in Division 2.

Brookfield East at Divine Savior Holy Angels, 7 p.m. Friday: DSHA won both Greater Metro Conference meetings, but the second game, Jan. 19, was decided by one point.

Badger at Waukesha West, 7 p.m. Friday: Assuming Badger wins Tuesday, this matchup will be a matter of the co-champion of the Southern Lakes trying to cool off West, which has won 11 straight games.
