Stone Creek Coffee will close Whitefish Bay cafe
Stone Creek Coffee will permanently close its Whitefish Bay cafe as of April 19, the roaster announced on social media on March 20.
The cafe at 601 E. Silver Spring Drive was the first opened by company’s founder, Eric Resch, in December 1993.
“On the day we opened, I was on the floor serving customers, making drinks, and being scared as hell,” Resch wrote in the posting. “I was 24 years old and knew very little about owning a business. Today, 27 years later, I can sincerely say that I have experienced and have learned a lot, but I acknowledge that there is still so much to learn.”
It’s one of 10 cafes that Stone Creek operates, including others on the North Shore, in Glendale and Shorewood. The roaster permanently closed

its Radio Milwaukee cafe in Walker’s Point in November because of the pandemic, and the company also announced in May that it would not reopen its Chicago cafe after it closed for the pandemic.
In the social media post, Resch wrote, “I am proud of the work we have done in the last 27 years, and I know that the cycles of life (or a café) are simply that, cycles. Everything we create in our business is iterative with the goal of making something even better tomorrow.”
He also said in the posting that employees will be transferred to other cafes, rather than being laid off.
