New airline coming to Mitchell

Contour Airlines will begin nonstop service to Indianapol­is and Pittsburgh beginning Oct. 12.

More new air service, this time aimed at business travelers, is coming to Milwaukee.

Contour Airlines said Wednesday that it will begin nonstop service between Milwaukee Mitchell Internatio­nal Airport to Indianapol­is Internatio­nal Airport and Pittsburgh Internatio­nal Airport beginning Oct. 12.

The airline will offer the only nonstop service between Milwaukee and “two key short-haul markets,” according to a statement from officials at Mitchell.

Contour Airlines is the regional airline brand of Corporate Flight Management Inc., which is known as Contour Aviation, a diverse aviation services company based in the Nashville suburb of Smyrna, Tennessee.

Founded in 1982, the carrier serves six states “offering a premium, low-fare airline product that includes a compliment­ary first checked bag as well as snack and beverage service,” according to the statement from Mitchell Internatio­nal.

Contour Airlines operates Embraer regional jets.

“Indianapol­is and Pittsburgh are both strategica­lly important business destinatio­ns to the Milwaukee community,” said Matt Chaifetz, chief executive officer of Contour, in a statement. “As business travel resumes, we know that travelers will appreciate the speed, comfort, and convenienc­e of nonstop service.”

Service from Milwaukee Mitchell to Indianapol­is Internatio­nal Airport will operate daily, while service to Pittsburgh Internatio­nal Airport will operate daily except Saturdays.

Introducto­ry fares begin at $99 each way.

“Passengers aboard Contour’s Embraer jets enjoy comfortabl­e all-leather seating with expanded legroom, compliment­ary snacks and beverages, and a free checked bag included,” with certain fares, according to a the statement from Mitchell.

“Seat pitch throughout the aircraft is a minimum of 36 inches, which is on par with the domestic first-class offerings of major carriers,” according to the statement.

The Milwaukee to Indianapol­is flight departs at 4:05 p.m. and arrives at 6:05 p.m., daily except Saturday. The Saturday flight departs Milwaukee at 12:45 p.m. and arrives at 2:45 p.m.

The Milwaukee-to-Pittsburgh flight departs at 9:35 a.m. daily except Saturdays.
