Two people in small plane crash in Hartford taken to area hospitals
Two people were taken to area hospitals after a small plane crashed Saturday morning in Hartford, according to a news release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
The man and woman in the plane, whose names and ages were not included in the news release, were taken to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa and Aurora Medical Center in Summit, respectively, with unknown injuries, according to the release.
The plane crash was reported about 11:22 a.m. and occurred directly west of the Hartford Municipal Airport, in a cornfield southwest of county Highway U and Arthur Road, according to a news release from the sheriff ’s office.
The woman, who was reportedly unconscious, had to be extricated from the plane, according to the release. The man was conscious but appeared to be in shock, a caller reported to authorities.
The sheriff’s office said the man was piloting the plane and receiving instruction and supervision from the woman, an instructor. The release did not give details about the type of plane.
The man was first taken by ambulance to Aurora Medical Center in Hartford before he was airlifted to Froedtert in Wauwatosa by Flight for Life. The woman was taken to the LifeNet hangar at the municipal airport before she was airlifted by LifeNet to Aurora Medical Center in Summit.
The Washington County Sheriff ’s Office, along with officers from the Hartford Police Department and personnel from Hartford Fire & Rescue, responded to the scene, according to the release.
The crash is under investigation.
