Luis Castillo pitched six effective innings, Tyler Stephenson homered to give the Reds a cushion they ended up needing, and Cincinnati held on to beat Minnesota.

RAYS 4, Mariners 3:

Randy Arozarena had a two-run triple during a three-run third and AL East-leading Tampa Bay beat Seattle to avoid a season series sweep. The Rays went 1-6 overall against Seattle.

BREWERS 4, Pirates 2:

Pinch-hitter Rowdy Tellez launched a three-run homer with two outs in the seventh inning to put Milwaukee ahead for good in a victory over Pittsburgh.

ATHLETICS 5, Padres 4 (10 innings):

Matt Olson hit a two-run, walk-off double in the bottom of the 10th inning and Oakland rallied past San Diego. The A’s scored twice in the ninth with two outs off closer Mark Melancon to tie it at 3.

Phillies at NATIONALS, late:

Bryce Harper’s solo home run in the eighth inning against his former team was the difference in Philadelph­ia’s 5-4 victory against Washington on Tuesday night. Harper hit a 430-foot home run to left-center off Javy Guerra.

Orioles at YANKEES, late:

Luis Gil pitched six scoreless innings in his major league debut, Giancarlo Stanton homered and drove in four runs, and New York routed Baltimore 13-1 on Tuesday night.

Indians at BLUE JAYS, late:

Hyun Jin Ryu pitched seven solid innings in his first start for Toronto on Canadian soil, George Springer and Teoscar Hernandez homered and the Blue Jays beat Cleveland 7-2 on Tuesday night.

Red Sox at TIGERS, late:

Miguel Cabrera hit his 498th home run and Detroit beat Boston 4-2 on Tuesday. Cabrera added a single, giving him 2,944 career hits and moving him ahead of Frank Robinson for 36th place all-time.

Mets at MARLINS, late:

Newly acquired Alex Jackson hit his first career home run, Nick Neidert earned his first big-league win and Miami beat NL East-leading New York 5-4 Tuesday.

Angels at RANGERS, late:

Top prospect Jo Adell drove in three runs while reaching base four times in his season debut, Phil Gosselin had three RBI singles and Los Angeles won 11-3 at Texas on Tuesday night.

Royals at WHITE SOX, late:

Dylan Cease allowed one hit in six scoreless innings, matching a season high with 11 strikeouts, and Chicago beat Kansas City 7-1 on Tuesday night. Tim Anderson and Andrew Vaughn homered for AL Central-leading Chicago.

Braves at CARDINALS, late:

Freddie Freeman and Atlanta hammered Jon Lester in his first start for St. Louis, scoring five runs in the first inning of a 6-1 victory Tuesday. Lester allowed the first seven hitters to reach base.

Cubs at ROCKIES, late:

Elías Díaz hit a grand slam, Kyle Freeland got his first win in more than a month and Colorado beat Chicago 13-6 on Tuesday night. Freeland (2-6) pitched five innings and earned his first win since June 28.

Astros at DODGERS, late:

Lance McCullers Jr. threw 62⁄3 shutout innings and Houston withstood the raucous, heckling fans at Dodger Stadium to blank Los Angeles 3-0 Tuesday night.

Giants at D-BACKS, late:

Madison Bumgarner threw seven stellar innings to beat his former team for the first time and Arizona knocked off firstplace San Francisco 3-1 on Tuesday.
