State reports more delta cases among positive COVID-19 tests

Cases of the delta variant — among those tested from positive COVID-19 tests — increased to 644 on Friday, according to data from Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene.

The state reported an increase in the seven-day average of daily cases for the 31st consecutiv­e day. The average is now 1,021, up 961 cases from a month ago.

Hospitaliz­ations passed the 400 mark on Friday, increasing to 418 patients — the highest since Feb. 13.
