Demolition contractor Veit & Co. plans to develop a new regional office in New Berlin for its growing workforce.

Veit, which has a regional office at 2445 S. 179th St., also in New Berlin, is proposing to construct a 20,000square-foot office and a 15,000-squarefoot heavy equipment maintenance facility at 18900 W. Lincoln Ave.

That’s according to a report filed with the New Berlin Plan Commission. The commission is to review the proposal at its Monday meeting.

Veit, based in Rogers, Minnesota, “has grown locally over the past 15 years to be an industry leading specialty contracting company providing the ... area heavy civil services and waste management solutions,” according to the report.

“This facility will provide us the ability to continue growing and bringing future employment opportunities to the region,” Viet said in its proposal.

Veit’s services include demolition, with the firm involved in such high-profile projects as removal of the former BMO Harris Bradley Center and an obsolete Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. building.

The company’s other services include foundations, utility work and industrial cleanups.

The new development would be on a former quarry that has been filled.

An environmental study has found a former public dump covering 7 acres at the site which is capped and has buffers, according to the proposal.

Veit wants to begin construction in October, with an anticipated completion in September 2022.

The company has more than 35 fulltime employees at the New Berlin site, and its new operations could add 30 more full-time workers.

“In addition, this campus will support a current workforce of 130 field operations employees,” the proposal said. “We have a 10-year projection to double these field employment opportunities.”
