Rookie Bailey Ober shut out the White Sox into the sixth inning, Jorge Polanco homered and the last-place Twins took another series from a playoff contender, beating Chicago 1-0 on Wednesday. Minnesota took two of three from the White Sox after winning three of four at Houston, which leads the AL West.

ASTROS 5, Rockies 1:

Aledmys Díaz had three hits and drove in three runs to help the Houston Astros beat the Colorado Rockies 5-1 on Wednesday. Díaz tied it with an RBI single in the first and gave the Astros the lead with a run-scoring single in the third.

Yankees 5, ROYALS 2:

Luke Voit had a two-run single in the first inning and the New York Yankees beat Kansas City 5-2 on Wednesday for their 12th straight series victory over the Royals.

Marlins 7, PADRES 0:

Lewis Brinson hit two of Miami’s three home runs off rookie lefty Ryan Weathers, Sandy Alcantara shut down San Diego for seven brilliant innings and the Marlins avoided a winless road trip by beating the punchless Padres 7-0 Wednesday.

METS 8, Nationals 7:

Brandon Drury delivered a tiebreakin­g single in the eighth inning and the Mets rallied from a pair of three-run deficits to defeat the Nationals 8-7 on Wednesday in the resumption of a game suspended by rain the night before.

Dodgers at PHILLIES, late:

Max Scherzer and Aaron Nola had a a pitchers’ duel ruined by rain, and Corey Seager and Max Muncy homered as the Los Angeles Dodgers ended Philadelph­ia’s eight-game winning streak, beating the Phillies 5-0 on Tuesday night.

Tigers at ORIOLES, late:

Willi Castro doubled, tripled and drove in three runs, and Detroit beat the Baltimore Orioles 9-4 on Tuesday night in a game that included a scary collision between two Tigers outfielder­s.

Cardinals at PIRATES, late:

J.A. Happ combined with a trio of relievers on a one-hitter, Tommy Edman and Paul DeJong homered early and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the skidding Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1 on Tuesday night.

Athletics at CLEVELAND, late:

Jed Lowrie delivered an RBI double in the 10th inning and the Oakland Athletics extended their winning streak to five, beating the Cleveland Indians 4-3 on Tuesday night.

Rays at RED SOX, late:

Tampa Bay’s Francisco Mejía singled with the bases loaded in the ninth, Boston’s Hunter Renfroe made a costly error on the play, and it helped the Rays rally past the Red Sox 8-4 on Tuesday night.

Reds at BRAVES, late:

Adam Duvall hit a two-run homer, Stephen Vogt’s bases-loaded walk in the sixth forced in the go-ahead run and the Atlanta Braves beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 in a matchup of second-place teams on Tuesday night.

Brewers at CUBS, late:

Luis Urías had two hits during a six-run, fifth-inning rally as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 6-3 Tuesday night to complete a doublehead­er sweep.

Blue Jays at ANGELS, late:

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit an early RBI single and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-0 on Tuesday night to split an unusual doublehead­er.

D-backs at GIANTS, late:

LaMonte Wade Jr. scored the winning run with two outs in the ninth inning when first baseman Christian Walker failed to handle Kris Bryant’s sharp grounder, and the San Francisco Giants danced on the field celebratin­g an 8-7 victory against the Arizona Diamondbac­ks on Tuesday night.

Rangers at MARINERS, late:

Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Yonny Hernandez each hit an RBI single in the 10th inning, and the Texas Rangers snapped a 14-game road losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Mariners on Tuesday.
