The Milwaukee Night Market returns to downtown next week for the first time since 2019.

The Milwaukee Night Market, put on by the Westown Association and NEWaukee, will take over West Wisconsin Avenue on Wednesday from 5 to 10 p.m.

The free, outdoor street festival showcases Milwaukee vendors, performers and artists. West Wisconsin Avenue between Plankinton and Phillips avenues will be shut down for the event from noon until 1 a.m.

The Milwaukee Night Market next week will feature more than 100 vendors like Lush Popcorn, Unfinished Legacy, Triciclo Peru and Riley's Good Dogs. Performers include TRUE Skool Band and DJs and the Milwaukee Flyers Tumbling Team.

American Family Insurance is sponsoring 20 entrepreneurs who are Black, Indigenous or people of color to participate in the market. Vendors sponsored by American Family Insurance include Raising Good, Soap Fixx Co. LLC, HoneyBee Sage Wellness & Apothecary and Mr. Greens.

“It's exciting to have the popular Milwaukee Night Market, a community event that brings so many city residents together, return in 2021,” said Ranell Washington, American Family Insurance office of community and social impact advisor, in a news release.

“American Family is pleased to sponsor 20 local entrepreneurs of color, allowing them to showcase the variety of quality products and services they offer. The pandemic has hit small businesses particularly hard, especially our diverse businesses, so providing an opportunity to promote and sell at this event is particularly important.”

The Milwaukee Night Market will host one event in 2021. The market is typically monthly in summer. It was canceled in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was started by NEWaukee in 2014.

“We are thrilled to reactivate West Wisconsin Avenue and welcome back Downtown employees and visitors,” said Stacie Callies, Westown Association executive director, in a news release.
