Player of the week

Grace Lomen, Catholic Memorial: What a night it was for the UW-Parkside recruit Tuesday. The 5-foot-9 guard hit 13 of 24 shots, went 11 for 15 from the free throw line and scored a career-high 37 points in a 79-78 victory at Oconomowoc. She topped off the performanc­e with a free throw with no time left on the clock that sealed the win. She also scored her 1,000th point during the performanc­e. Lomen leads the team in scoring (19.9 ppg), rebounding (11.1 rpg), steals (3.3) and is tied for the lead in steals (2.8 spg).

Union Grove

The Broncos handed a Racine County rival its first loss of the season and successful­ly met another challenge to their supremacy in the Southern Lakes last week to raise their record to 9-2. The run started with an 82-41 victory over at Wilmot, which entered play tied for second in the conference.

Senior guard Payton Calouette scored a career-high 17 points in the victory and junior guard/forward Sophia Rampulla posted one of her five doubledoub­les of the season (12 points, 13 rebounds). The next night against The Prairie School junior guard Sydney Ludvigsen finished with 19 points and five rebounds, while senior guard Emmy Pettit (13 points, five rebounds) and Rampulla (five points, 19 rebounds) also played large roles in a 71-55 non-conference victory over the previously undefeated Hawks.

Viking Holiday Classic at New Berlin We and New Berlin Eisenhower, Tuesday and Wednesday: The highlight of Day 1 is Grafton at Eisenhower at 1 p.m. The top games of Day 2 are Cedarburg vs. Catholic Memorial at 3 p.m. at West, Franklin at New Berlin Eisenhower at 6 p.m. and Martin Luther at New Berlin West at 6.
