8-year-old girl’s father charged in her shooting death

The father of 8-year-old Tiana Huddleston has been charged with reckless homicide and a weapon charge in the shooting death of his daughter.

According to the criminal complaint, Michael Huddleston, 47, told detectives he grabbed his gun, checked that the safety was on and that there was nothing in the clip. Huddleston put the clip back in the gun, squeezed the trigger and the girl was then struck in the chest by a bullet.

Following the shooting, an 18-year-old person called 911 from the residence to inform authoritie­s that a shooting just happened and Huddleston was on the way to a hospital with Tiana.

Huddleston shared with detectives that he had been drinking tequila and volunteere­d to give a blood sample, according to the complaint.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office charged Huddleston with first-degree reckless homicide-use of dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. If convicted, Huddleston faces up to

70 years in prison.

Man wanted in shootings captured in Iowa

Simone S. Hughes, who Milwaukee police say killed his 41-year-old girlfriend, Quinette N. Walters, and shot his 14-year-old daughter, was captured Wednesday morning in Waterloo, Iowa.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office issued criminal charges last week for Hughes, including first-degree intentiona­l homicide, attempted first-degree intentiona­l homicide and weapons charges.

Man found guilty in Kenosha County bar shooting that killed 3, wounded 3

KENOSHA - A man accused of killing three people and wounding three others in an April shooting at a bar in Kenosha County was found guilty Tuesday.

The jury came back with the verdict less than two hours after the closing arguments in the trial of Rakayo Vinson, 25, who was charged in the deaths of 24-yearold Cedric Gaston, 26-year-old Atkeem Stevenson and 22-year-old Kevin Donaldson, all of Kenosha.

Authoritie­s said Vinson and Donaldson exchanged punches earlier in the evening at the Somers House Tavern in the Village of Somers. Surveillan­ce video later shows Vinson walking to the patio of the bar and opening fire before fleeing. He exchanged gunfire outside the tavern with Donaldson, who later died at a hospital.

Vinson was convicted of three counts of first-degree intentiona­l homicide and three counts of attempted first-degree intentiona­l homicide.

A sentencing hearing is set for March 28.

Harris, EPA administra­tor to come to Milwaukee Monday

Vice President Kamala Harris will visit Milwaukee on Monday, marking her second trip to Wisconsin since taking office.

Harris will be joined by Environmen­tal Protection Agency Administra­tor Michael Regan and second gentleman Doug Emhoff, the White House said on Wednesday. Details of the trip will be released later, officials said in the announceme­nt.

Harris last visited Milwaukee in May to promote the Biden administra­tion’s ambitious infrastruc­ture plan.
