Walker’s Point building’s redevelopm­ent proceeds

Plans are proceeding to redevelop a historic Walker's Point building, last used as a school, into offices for a Milwaukee marketing and advertisin­g firm as well as retail space.

The Zizzo Group Inc. plans to move its headquarte­rs in June to a building at 131 S. First Street. A firm affiliate bought the property in June 2021 for $1.25 million.

The two-story, 12,200-square-foot building and an adjacent parking lot were sold by Seeds of Health Inc., a charter school operator that moved to the former Milwaukee Sentinel building, 918-922 N. Phillips Ave.

Zizzo Group is now based nearby at 207 N. Milwaukee St., in the neighborin­g Historic Third Ward.

The renovation­s at the Walker's Point building, which begin in February, will include an entry off West Seeboth Street, with a new staircase connecting to an upper floor reception and outdoor roof terrace, the firm announced Tuesday.

The office space, designed by the Rinka architectu­ral firm, will accommodat­e additional staff and a hybrid work schedule where staff works remotely 50% of the work week.

Also, the building will feature 3,800 square feet of first-floor commercial space.

The building was constructe­d in 1855, according to the Wisconsin Historical Society.

It has been mainly used for retail space, including the former home to Brass Light Gallery.
