Frank Edward Berridge Jr. M.D.

Died Sunday May 29, 2022, at his home in Elm Grove. Born Lynn, MA in 1925, he was the eldest child of Frank & Marion Berridge. He was married in 1950 to Alta Berridge (nee Gordon) who pre-deceased him nine years ago, also from Lynn. Survived by his children Kirk, Erik, Dale (Lisa), Jan (Scott) Grosenick, grandsons, Troy (Maggie) Grosenick, Sean (Kira) Grosenick, two great grandchild­ren Beckett & Claire Grosenick, and by his sisters Marilyn Tanny and Marjorie Staudenbau­er.

Frank served as a medic assigned to the 1269th Combat Engineerin­g Battalion in Europe from 1944 to 1946. He earned undergradu­ate & medical degrees from Boston University and completed his surgical residency at Ohio State under renowned surgeons Zollinger and Ellison. After gaining additional oncologica­l skills at Memorial Slone-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC and on the advice of Edwin Ellison (first Director of Surgery, Medical College of Wisconsin), Frank moved to Milwaukee, establishi­ng a private practice in 1959. He became the Chief of Surgery at St Michaels Hospital and served as President of the Milwaukee American Cancer Society working to join it with the State organizati­on. He also enjoyed teaching at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Frank retired as the Chief of Outpatient Surgery at the VA in 2000. Frank was an avid traveler, fly fisherman and lifetime alpine skier.

Those wishing to pay respects may join the family at Silver Springs Golf and Banquet Center, N56W21318 Silver Spring Dr, Menomonee Falls on June 22nd, 2022, at 4:00 pm, for a memorial service and a dinner. Wearing of masks is requested.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Frank’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
