Christine J. Korosec

-

(nee Guzenda) Passed away on June 15, 2022 at the age of 95 from end-stage congestive heart failure. She was the baby of the family and had an older brother, John, and three older sisters, Martha, Celia and Esther. She attended a 1-room schoolhouse up to the 8th grade, the Stargard School on what is now South 51st Street in Franklin, WI. Her family’s farm was directly across the street - her mother would open the school in the morning, sweep and put wood on the fire to start the school day. Christine attended Pulaski High School and in 1944 was the first in her family to receive a high school diploma. After graduation, she took a job at Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company. Her first job was collecting and organizing slips of paper that had long distance numbers and call times for billing. She worked her way up in various areas of Bell Telephone’s accounting department until her retirement in 1982 and bragged about how fast she was on an adding machine. Christine married Albert Korosec on October 11, 1946 - it would have been 75 years last October. They did not have children, but they had dogs, and a fishing boat (The Altina - a combination of their names) they enjoyed taking out on Lake Michigan. Christine was a prolific knitter her whole life - lacy handknit afghans showed up for most everyone she was close to. She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews and her many friends.
