Mary Ellen Lukaszewicz
WAUWATOSA - Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday June 13, 2022. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Peter Lukaszewicz, her sister, Kathy Corby, her brother-in-law, Chet Lukaszewicz, her parents, James and Eleanor Chenoweth, and her in-laws, John and Gladys Lukaszewicz.
Mary Ellen is survived by her son Michael (Kathy) Lukaszewicz, and daughters Kate (Gerry) Neugent, and Ellen (Brett) Stabelfeldt. She was the dear grandmother (Nama) of Gerry, Peter, Henry, James, Alice, Stella, Emily, and Tess. She is further survived by her sisters, Jan Metherell and Ann (Chris) Chenoweth-Braun, and in-laws Bob (Pam) Corby, Hedy (Bob) Lukas, and Laurie Lukaszewicz. Also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews, other loved relatives and friends.
Mary Ellen was born in Sterling, CO, on April 22, 1947, the oldest of four sisters. She moved to Milwaukee to attend Cardinal Stritch University, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in education. Mary Ellen married the love of her life, Peter, on April 17, 1971. She started her career as a home economics teacher, and later enjoyed owning City Garden, a wonderful gift shop in the village of Wauwatosa. However, most of her years were spent devoted to raising her family.
Mary Ellen loved bringing people together. She celebrated life with passion. She was an amazing host. You may have been part of a Survivor dinner, a Halloween bash, a Dominoes, Scrabble, or Rummikub match, or fortunate enough to enjoy one of her MANY delicious holiday meals. She loved movies, the Milwaukee Rep, local restaurants, museums, and live music. But more than anything, she loved the people she shared all this with . . . her dear friends and family.
Visitation will be held at Christ King Catholic Church, 2604 N Swan Blvd, Wauwatosa, on Friday August 19, 2022 from 2-4pm. Memorial Service at 4pm.
