MUSKEGO - Passed away at home on March 17, 2024, at the age of 69. He was born to Alice and Rellis Herzfeld in Milwaukee in 1954. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John and his niece Anna. Jim is survived by his loving wife and best friend Susan (nee Hetzel) and was a devoted and loving dad to their children Matthew (partner Melissa Lukasko) and Margaret (partner Dhrumil Patel). Jim is further survived by brothers Robert (Ann) and Mark (Patrice), nephews and nieces Michael (Chris), David (Allison), Thomas (Rebecca and little Henry), Kathryn (Daniel) Fugate and Benjamin.

Jim was a graduate of South Division High school and UW-Milwaukee with a BBA-MIS degree. He worked for the Journal Sentinel for 38 years, achieving the position of Vice President of IT and Chief Informatio­n Officer. In this position he was responsibl­e for designing and integratin­g technology into an automated production and printing facility. Jim also served on several nonprofit boards. After retiring from Journal Sentinel, Jim was a technology consultant for Waukesha Foundry and Paragon Developmen­t Systems.

Jim’s greatest joys were watching his children grow up and attending their sporting and music events, traveling and vacations to Disney, playing on several softball, bowling and football teams, sailing and fishing. Jim was a long-time member of South Shore Yacht club. He spent many joyful hours with his beloved dog Ginger by his side.

We would like to thank Froedtert Hospital and the MCW doctors, nurses and support staff for their compassion and profession­alism. A very special thank you to Dr Katherine Bylow and her staff for the many years of treatment, encouragem­ent, optimism and readiness to help Jim and the family. Thank you to Dr Ann Maguire and Dr Paul Hanna for their outstandin­g care and compassion. And a special thank you to Julayne, Otis and staff on 8CFAC.

Visitation at Hales Corners Lutheran Church will occur on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:45 am, followed by a service at noon with Pastor Chad Kogutkiewi­cz officiatin­g. Burial at Forest Hill Memorial Park, Oak Creek.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons to Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue in Mukwonago or Hales Corners Lutheran Church.
