Barbara A. Heider

-

Embraced by her two daughters, Barbara “Barb” Heider found peace in her home on March 15, 2024. Loving wife of the late Terry Heider and cherished mother of Teri ( Jay) Groth and Kelli (Axel) Rathke. Proud grandmother of Alex, Jacob, Lizzi and Lexi. Dear sister to Holly, Judi, Margaret, Ray (Mary), Anita, and Mickey. Further survived by nieces and nephews, friends, and her constant feline companion, Mikie.

Barb’s biggest joy came from being a mom and a grandma (GMA). She was intimately involved in the lives of her daughters and grandkids, whether it be talking about The Bachelor or watching funny Reels with her grandsons, or making her famous spaghetti and meatballs with her granddaughters. She was relatable and had inside jokes and a unique bond with each one of us. Barb was an amazing listener and made everyone feel comfortable opening up to her. As a result, she was not only a mother and a grandmother, but a best friend and therapist as well.

Barb was a huge animal lover, having owned many cats and dogs over the years. She was known for her daily animal posts on Facebook and donated generously to the Humane Society. Barb took great pride in caring for her yard and enjoyed her twice a week trips on her riding lawn mower to ensure her grass was perfectly manicured. Her yard hosted many different types of birds thanks to her endless supply of bird seed and bird baths, and Barb greatly appreciated their company (especially the Cardinals).

Barb’s strong and feisty personality, and fun, sassy sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her family is finding solace knowing she is reunited with Terry, likely enjoying the beaches of Mexico or shopping in Door County.

A casual celebration of Barb’s life will take place on Thursday, April 4th from 4pm to 7pm at Hubbard Park Lodge (3565 North Morris Blvd, Milwaukee, WI). Known as a Food Pusher, Barb always made sure everyone had enough to eat, so come hungry. Guests are encouraged to share memories of Barb’s life throughout the celebration. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Humane Society of the United States or to the American Cancer Society.
