John Edward Rickmeier

Passed away on March 14, 2024, at AngelsGrace Hospice one week after his 87th birthday. John was born in Sheboygan, WI to Carl and Verna (Prange) Rickmeier and spent his boyhood summers on Crystal Lake in Plymouth, WI.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Mary (Woehr), children Liesl (David) Ackley, John W., and Robin, and grandchildren Suzanne and Henry Ackley. He is also survived by his brother Steve, nephew Carl (Megan) Rickmeier, niece Nanette (Randy) Prost, niece Gillian (Matthew) Schmitz, nephew Mark (Stephanie) Rickmeier, and other dear relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, older brother Carl (Nancy), and in-laws Harold and Anita Woehr.

John earned a B.S. and MBA in Finance from UW-Madison where he was a lifelong Badger fan and a member of Chi Phi fraternity. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in the Port of New Orleans. John was a CFA and worked at M&I Bank in Milwaukee before being employed as Chief Economist for Andresen & Co. in New York. Later, he started his own firm, Andrecom Advisors, which grew into IDC Financial Publishing in Hartland, WI. IDC has remained a standard in bank ranking for over 30 years.

John loved being near the water, swimming every day, and cruising with Mary in their electric boat, “Leben Hoch”. John and Mary enjoyed travel, especially to the Caribbean and their favorite spot Curtain Bluff, Antigua. John was a member of Chenequa Country Club, Pine Lake Yacht Club, Delray Beach Club, St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, The Other Other Club, and “The Rusty Zipper Club”.

John was loving, generous, wise and funny. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Services will be held on May 31, 2024, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish in North Lake, WI. Visitation at 9:30 a.m. until the Mass at 11:30 a.m. Donations gratefully accepted for ProHealth AngelsGrace Hospice or a charity of your choice.
