Clement Manor transfers orders
Different Franciscans to care for senior home
MANITOWOC — Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity has assumed sponsorship of the Greenfield senior living community Clement Manor Inc.
The Manitowoc-based Sisters organization is taking over for the Milwaukee-based School Sisters of St. Francis.
According to a news release, the two distinct Franciscan orders and the leaders of their nonprofit business entities discussed the sponsorship for several months and recently reached an agreement.
The changeover happened Monday. Both the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and the Diocese of Green Bay agreed on the sponsorship transfer from one Catholic order to another, as soon as documentation is finalized by the Vatican in Rome. This transition satisfies the School Sisters of St. Francis’ determination that Clement Manor continue to be supported by a faith-based operation that adheres to the Catholic health care guidelines.
“As part of our responsible sponsorship, our leadership team at Clement Manor have been carefully monitoring and assessing the changing senior living industry,” said Sister Carol Rigali, director of sponsorship services for the School Sisters of St. Francis, in a news release.
The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity’s sponsor nonprofit system is composed of acute and long-term health care facilities in Wisconsin, Nebraska and Ohio. Based in Manitowoc, the order sees expansion into the Milwaukee market as an opportunity to extend its mission of serving older adults via faith-based residential communities, according to the release. Its hospital in Manitowoc is affiliated with Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin.
“At a time when there are so many challenges facing health care and longterm care providers, I am thrilled to be entering into this new relationship with Clement Manor,” said Scott McConnaha, president and CEO of the Sisters’ Sponsored Ministries Inc. “This is an opportunity for both of our organizations to enhance the necessary work we do.”
Under the agreement, the name, operations, resident living arrangements, staff and leadership will all remain the same for Clement Manor, at 3939 S. 92nd St., Greenfield.
Clement Manor CEO Dennis Ferger said in the release: “In the past few years, it became increasingly clear that the challenges we face in our industry require new thinking and action. We are not alone in this. Many leaders in our industry agree that their organization may be better off in the long term working with another organization and not going it alone.”
