IN NICK PETRIE’S second novel, Burning Bright, Peter Ash, the PTSDwracked hero of Petrie’s first novel, The Drifter, has left Beer Town for the tall trees of Northern California, where he meets a feisty young woman being pursued by some seriously bad guys. Petrie, a Milwaukee home inspector, has crafted a page-turner even more gripping than his first, though without the Cream City landmarks. - TOM TOLAN
