Foamy Fest

Ironically, one of the smaller imbibing fests in town – Milwaukee Cider & Nano Beer Fest – takes place on the former grounds of one of the big beers that made Milwaukee famous. Schlitz Park (1543 N. Second St.) hosts a tasting of more than 70 different ciders and beers (the unlimited sampling skews toward the former) from two dozen different purveyors. The list includes local brewers Third Space, The Fermentorium, Eagle Park and Raised Grain; and cider makers such as Finn River, Seattle Cider and Vander Mill. Tickets start at $39 for general admission and are $65 for VIP early entry (including special tastings and a commemorative glass). My advice? Pop for the VIP entry. (milwaukeeciderfest.com)
