- Carole Nicksin

the fellow on the cover with the 1970s-style mustache? Randy Bryce is an ironworker seeking the Democratic nomination and the opportunity to try to unseat Republican Rep. Paul Ryan. Five years ago, a political novice may not have stood a chance against a titan like Ryan, speaker of the House, but in today’s climate, who knows? The magazine received a lot of criticism over a photo we ran in our September issue. You can read some of the reaction from readers on page 12. We deeply regret running the photo, and extend our apologies to the entire community. In response, we brought together four thought-leaders to discuss their reaction to the photo, how African-Americans are portrayed in the media and how the magazine can do a better job in the future (page 26).
