Carl Bachhuber’s Lockheed Hudson
The Photo of the Week posts continue to be popular on our Facebook page, and we recently shared a photo taken by our buddy Sal Calvagna of Carl Bachhuber’s huge Lockheed Hudson. Taken during Warbirds Over Delaware, Carl’s Lockheed scratch-built Hudson Mk V is about 23% scale and is powered by twin Desert Aircraft DA-100cc gas engines. Weighing in at 105 pounds, the Hudson has a 180-inch wingspan. Here are some of your comments.
George Michaels: Wow! What an impressive warbird. Those Fowler flaps look huge.
Peter Bailey: Carl’s magnificent Lockheed Hudson was truly impressive. It’s a shame that it crashed after only a few dozen flights.
John Thomas: Oh, I just love the Hudson! It was featured in one of my all-time favorite
1940s’ James Cagney movies: Captains of the Clouds.
Anthony Mitchell: I was at the 2013 Warbirds Over Delaware event. It was hot and a group of us took the shuttle bus to Lums Pond State Park. The sound of the Hudson’s engines as the pilot made multiple flights was just amazing.
