Saito FG-14

The Saito FG-14 is a four-stroke, electronic-ignition gas engine. This engine wouldn’t look out of place in a jewelry case, and since there’s no cowl, it garnered plenty of attention from the gang at the field. Because of the additional lubrication requirement, we mixed up a batch of ethanol-free gas with a 20:1 ratio of Red Line twocycle oil. While not inexpensive, the sound produced by this motor is worth the price; however, with glow fuel at nearly $30 a gallon, the long flight times and low operating costs will make up for any cost difference in short order if economy is your goal. In addition to lower operating costs, the four-stroke gas engine easily gets 15+ minutes of flight time. It costs $379.99.
