HIHG VOLTAGE

-

The use of high-voltage servos is becoming very popular for giant-scale 3D aerobatic planes and warbirds. These servos can be used with 2-cell 7.4V (or higher) LiPo batteries without the need of a voltage regulator. As examples, the Spektrum A6270 produces 582 oz.-in. of torque at 8.4 volts and has a strong metal gear train. The Futaba S9157 provides 425 or-in. of torque at 6.0 volts, and the Hitec 7980 servo features titanium gears and produces a whooping 500 oz.-in. of torque at 6.0 volts. Remember, you should never exceed the voltage amounts recommended by the servo's manufacturer. If you do use a LiPo pack to power your receiver and servos, and are not using high-voltage servos, then you should install a voltage regulator between the LiPo battery pack and the servos to keep the voltage at the proper level.
