Thedacare, Ap­ple­ton, Wis., pro­moted Kim Bar­nas to se­nior VP of Ap­ple­ton Med­i­cal Cen­ter and Theda Clark Med­i­cal Cen­ter in Neenah, Wis. Bar­nas, 55, will re­place Kathryn Cor­reia, who left to be­come CEO of Health­east Care Sys­tem in St. Paul, Minn. Bar­nas be­gan with Thedacare in 1994 as VP of de­vel­op­ment. Most re­cently, she served as sys­tem VP of on­col­ogy and spine ser­vices. … Less than a year since open­ing, Univer­sity Hos­pi­tals Ahuja Med­i­cal Cen­ter, Beach­wood, Ohio, has a new pres­i­dent. Su­san Ju­ris, 56, will as­sume the post Jan. 2 for Ahuja, which opened in March. Ju­ris, VP of pa­tient ac­cess of the sys­tem’s UH physi­cian ser­vices, re­places James Bene­dict Jr., now di­rec­tor of in­ter­na­tional lo­gis­tics for Cleve­land Clinic Abu Dhabi, a hos­pi­tal sched­uled to open in 2013 in the United Arab Emi­rates. Ettinger re­signed as pres­i­dent of Umass Me­mo­rial Med­i­cal Cen­ter, Worces­ter, Mass. Ettinger will join Ac­cre­tive Health, a rev­enue­cy­cle ser­vices com­pany based in Chicago, as a se­nior VP in Jan­uary, ac­cord­ing to a memo from John O’brien, CEO of the hos­pi­tal’s par­ent, Umass Me­mo­rial Health­care. O’brien said he will be be­come more ac­tively in­volved in op­er­a­tions at Umass Me­mo­rial Med­i­cal Cen­ter and will work closely with Dr. Jen­nifer Da­ley, the hos­pi­tal’s COO. Ettinger, 60, was the hos­pi­tal’s pres­i­dent for eight years. … Health Man­age­ment As­so­ci­ates, Naples, Fla., named Mike Fen­cel to a newly cre­ated po­si­tion over­see­ing the com­pany’s 11 af­fil­i­ated hos­pi­tals in North Florida. As CEO of HMA’S North Florida Divi­sion, Fen­cel, 52, also will over­see the divi­sion’s physi­cian prac­tices, an­cil­lary ser­vices, sur­gi­cal cen­ters and other af­fil­i­ated en­ti­ties. He pre­vi­ously was CEO of Hca-owned Bran­don (Fla.) Re­gional Hos­pi­tal.

Sonosite CFO Mar­cus Smith will step down, less than a month af­ter Fu­ji­film Hold­ings Corp. an­nounced plans to ac­quire the Bothell, Wash.-based ul­tra­sound de­vice man­u­fac­turer. Anil

Amlani, most re­cently pres­i­dent and CEO of Sonosite sub­sidiary Visu­al­son­ics, has been tapped to re­place Smith, ac­cord­ing to a Sonosite news re­lease. The ap­point­ment takes ef­fect Jan. 2. Amlani held ex­ec­u­tive po­si­tions at MDS Pro­teomics, Can­com and TD Bank be­fore join­ing Visu­al­son­ics in 2005. Sonosite ac­quired Visu­al­son­ics in 2010. Smith joined Sonosite in 2007 and was named se­nior VP and CFO in 2010. He is ex­pected to leave the com­pany Jan. 5, ac­cord­ing to the re­lease. Toky­obased Fu­ji­film said in mid-de­cem­ber that it would ac­quire Sonosite for about $995 mil­lion.
