Dr. Jeffrey Lieberman, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons department of psychiatry chairman, has been chosen president-elect of the 36,000-member American Psychiatric Association. Lieberman, 64, also is psychiatrist-in-chief at the Columbia University Medical Center campus of New York-presbyterian Hospital and is a member of the editorial board of the American Journal of Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Foundation board of directors, according to a news release. His term as president-elect begins at the conclusion of the APA annual meeting May 5-9 in Philadelphia, and he will assume the president’s post in May 2013.

James Gardner Thomas Rockers has been tapped to succeed as CEO of St. Anthony’s Medical Center, St. Louis. Rockers, who joined the hospital in 2003 as president and CEO, will retire March 28, according to a news release. Gardner, 54, most recently served as president and CEO of Gainesville, Ga.-based Northeast Georgia Health System. Gardner will assume his role as CEO on April 16. St. Anthony’s also named as
Dr. David Morton CMO. He steps into the newly created position effective immediately. Morton, a cardiologist, joined St. Anthony’s in 1987, according to a news release. … Texas Health Resources, Arlington, named to the new
Barclay Berdan position of COO and senior executive VP, effective April 1 and as part of a reorganization announced this month. Berdan, 58, currently is senior executive VP for system alignment and performance for the system. He will be responsible for three geographical zones that the system created with the reorganization, and also will oversee service lines and management of joint ventures and partnerships with organizations providing services such as wellness, home health and rehabilitation, according to a news release.
