CEO IT honorees named
Altschuler, Britton, Miller use IT to meet goals
Modern Healthcare is pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s CEO IT Achievement Award, which is co-sponsored by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
The 2012 winners are Dr. Steven Altschuler, CEO of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Lynn Britton, president and CEO of Mercy in Chesterfield, Mo.; and Richard Miller, president and CEO of Virtua in Marlton, N.J.
The trio of executives brings to 26 the number of CEOS who have received the award, which was
Altschuler created in 2003.
The award recognizes healthcare CEOS who demonstrate leadership and a commitment to using information technology to advance their organizations’ goals. A five-judge panel consisting of two CEOS chosen by Modern Healthcare and three chief information officers chosen by HIMSS selected Altschuler, Britton and Miller from a pool of 63 nominees.
Modern Healthcare and HIMSS announced the 10th annual CEO IT Achievement Award competition on Jan. 16, and the deadline for submissions was March 9. It was extended to March 23 to accommodate late entries. The judges evaluated the nominations through April 1, with the three winners determined on April 9. Modern Healthcare will profile this year’s recipients in a special section to be published in the magazine’s June 11 issue. Also, the trio will be honored during National Health IT Week in Washington in September.
