Transparency for Medicare doc payments long overdue

Regarding the story “CMS reveals Medicare physician pay data” (ModernHealthcare.com, April 9), this transparency is long overdue. Taxpayers/patients are entitled to know where, why and how much of their taxes are being billed by professionals who do business with the Medicare reimbursement system.

The best method for reducing costs is to allow free competitive enterprise, engaged in by the taxpayer. They will bring the cost of healthcare down simply by their choices.
