Nevin to take over as Christiana Care CEO
Who: Dr. Janice Nevin, 54
Upcoming role: CEO of Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington, Del., effective Jan. 1. She currently serves as the system’s chief medical officer and chief patientsafety officer. Nevin will replace Dr. Robert Laskowski, who is retiring.
Her top priority: “We have been working over the past several years to really bring what we call value to our neighbors. I’m going to continue to move us along the curve from volume to value like so many organizations. … We’re taking the commitment we have for this work not only to the patients who come to our facilities, but also out into our community through the initiatives we’re taking in population health.”
On her family medicine background: “I come from a place where I understand how important social determinants are to the health of the population. I understand how important it is to engage patients and members in the community. … And I’ve had the experience of being in a room oneon-one with a patient who is experiencing a health challenge.”
Delaware and beyond: “I love that we’re in Delaware and that it’s a small state. We have a very collaborative relationship with folks in state government and other providers and community organizations. Although we’re in Delaware, we also draw patients from Pennsylvania, Maryland and south New Jersey. We really are a regional provider.”
