Dr. Jerome Adams, an anesthesiologist with Eskenazi Health, Indianapolis, has been appointed commissioner of the Indiana State Department of Health.
Adams, 40, is an assistant professor of clinical anesthesia at Indiana University’s school of medicine and chairman of the pharmacy and therapeutics committee at Eskenazi. He succeeds
Dr. William VanNess. Adams has served as president of the Young Physicians Society of the Indiana State Medical Association as well as its assistant treasurer. Before working at Eskenazi, he served as a general anesthesiologist at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Ind., and as a physician rapid responder at Indianapolis Orthopaedic Hospital.
