Diagnostic testing company Alere, which has agreed to be bought by Abbott Laboratories, is suing Abbott to compel the pharmaceutical company to complete the deal.
Abbott backpedaled on the deal in April because of concerns about the accuracy of covenants, warranties and various representations made by Alere in the merger agreement. Alere is being investigated by the U.S. Justice Department because of its sales practices and patient-billing records related to Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare.
