Dr. Peter Buckley has been named executive VP of medical affairs at the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System and dean of the VCU School of Medicine, effective Jan. 17. He replaces Dr. Jerome
Strauss, who served as dean for 11 years. He will stay at VCU as a faculty member.
Buckley will oversee a physician group practice of 600 doctors and the academic health sciences center. He is currently executive VP of medical affairs and integration at Augusta University in Georgia and also is dean of the medical college at Augusta and a professor of psychiatry, pharmacology and radiology.
Jordan Herget has been named president and CEO of O’Connor Hospital in San Jose, Calif., and St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy, Calif., both part of Redwood City, Calif.based Verity Health, previously known as the Daughters of Charity Health System. He replaces Robert Minkin.
Herget has been COO of Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, an HCA facility. He began his healthcare career with Ernst & Young as a senior consultant, later joining HCA in 1999 as an associate in the controller development program at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.
Jeffrey Keller has been named chief innovation officer of the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville.
In this newly created role, Keller, 41, will help lead research on new and improved treatment options available at UVA.
Most recently, Keller founded Element Diagnostics, a company that develops molecular diagnostics to improve the treatment of cancers. He also previously worked in various operating roles at GE Healthcare and as a healthcare specialist at BlackArch Partners, an investment bank in Charlotte, N.C.
