Richard Liekweg has been promoted to president of BJC HealthCare based in St. Louis. Steve Lipstein, who was president and CEO of BJC, will continue to serve as CEO.

In this new role, Liekweg will manage operationa­l and clinical services at the 15-hospital system. He previously served as executive VP. He joined BJC in 2009 as president of Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, and BJC group president.

Before joining BJC, Liekweg was CEO and associate vice chancellor of UC San Diego Medical Center. He also spent 16 years in leadership roles at Duke University Health System, including CEO of Durham (N.C.) Regional Hospital.

Dr. Richard Liebowitz has been promoted to president of New YorkPresby­terian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, effective Feb. 6. He replaces Mark Mundy, who announced his retirement in 2016.

Liebowitz, 61, currently serves as chief medical officer for the tertiary-care hospital. He joined New YorkPresby­terian in 2006 and has served as VP of medical affairs and associate chief medical officer.

Mitch Wasden has been named CEO of OHSU Healthcare in Portland, Ore., effective March 1. He replaces interim CEO Timothy Goldfarb.

Wasden, 47, is currently CEO of University of Missouri Health Care in Columbia. He oversees four specialty hospitals and 50 outpatient clinics. He joined MU Health Care as COO in June 2012 and was named CEO in January 2013. Before joining MU Health Care, Wasden was CEO of Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La. He previously served as VP of clinical services at Ochsner Health System, New Orleans.

Dr. Brian Whited has been promoted to CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System facilities in three Minnesota cities: Cannon Falls, Lake City and Red Wing. He replaces Dr. Tom Witt.

Whited, 56, most recently served as vice chairman of operations at Mayo Clinic. Previously, he served from 2007 to 2010 as Mayo’s regional chief medical officer of southwest Minnesota and CEO of the Mayo Clinic Health System-Owatonna Clinic from 1995 to 2015.

Edward Borrego has been promoted to COO of Jackson South Community Hospital in Miami, part of Jackson Health System.

In this newly created position, Borrego, 30, will oversee hospital operations. He most recently served as assistant VP of operations for Jackson South. In the role, he helped lead the opening of the facility’s Level 2 trauma center last year. Previously, he was director of corporate initiative­s for Jackson Health.

John Hart has been named VP and chief integrity officer at Loyola Medicine in Maywood, Ill. He replaces Cari Reed, who left to serve as chief compliance officer at Option Care, a therapy service provider based in Buffalo Grove, Ill.

Hart, 58, will oversee all auditing and compliance functions at the system. He most recently served as clinical enterprise integrity officer at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. Before joining OHSU, Hart was chief audit and compliance officer at the University of North Carolina Health Care.
