Richard Liek­weg has been pro­moted to pres­i­dent of BJC Health­Care based in St. Louis. Steve Lip­stein, who was pres­i­dent and CEO of BJC, will con­tinue to serve as CEO.

In this new role, Liek­weg will man­age op­er­a­tional and clin­i­cal ser­vices at the 15-hos­pi­tal sys­tem. He pre­vi­ously served as ex­ec­u­tive VP. He joined BJC in 2009 as pres­i­dent of Barnes-Jewish Hos­pi­tal and Barnes-Jewish West County Hos­pi­tal, and BJC group pres­i­dent.

Be­fore join­ing BJC, Liek­weg was CEO and as­so­ciate vice chan­cel­lor of UC San Diego Med­i­cal Cen­ter. He also spent 16 years in lead­er­ship roles at Duke Univer­sity Health Sys­tem, in­clud­ing CEO of Durham (N.C.) Re­gional Hos­pi­tal.

Dr. Richard Liebowitz has been pro­moted to pres­i­dent of New YorkPres­by­te­rian Brook­lyn Methodist Hos­pi­tal, ef­fec­tive Feb. 6. He re­places Mark Mundy, who an­nounced his re­tire­ment in 2016.

Liebowitz, 61, cur­rently serves as chief med­i­cal of­fi­cer for the ter­tiary-care hos­pi­tal. He joined New YorkPres­by­te­rian in 2006 and has served as VP of med­i­cal af­fairs and as­so­ciate chief med­i­cal of­fi­cer.

Mitch Was­den has been named CEO of OHSU Health­care in Port­land, Ore., ef­fec­tive March 1. He re­places in­terim CEO Ti­mothy Gold­farb.

Was­den, 47, is cur­rently CEO of Univer­sity of Mis­souri Health Care in Columbia. He over­sees four spe­cialty hos­pi­tals and 50 out­pa­tient clin­ics. He joined MU Health Care as COO in June 2012 and was named CEO in Jan­uary 2013. Be­fore join­ing MU Health Care, Was­den was CEO of Och­sner Med­i­cal Cen­ter in Ba­ton Rouge, La. He pre­vi­ously served as VP of clin­i­cal ser­vices at Och­sner Health Sys­tem, New Or­leans.

Dr. Brian Whited has been pro­moted to CEO of Mayo Clinic Health Sys­tem fa­cil­i­ties in three Min­nesota cities: Can­non Falls, Lake City and Red Wing. He re­places Dr. Tom Witt.

Whited, 56, most re­cently served as vice chair­man of op­er­a­tions at Mayo Clinic. Pre­vi­ously, he served from 2007 to 2010 as Mayo’s re­gional chief med­i­cal of­fi­cer of south­west Min­nesota and CEO of the Mayo Clinic Health Sys­tem-Owa­tonna Clinic from 1995 to 2015.

Ed­ward Bor­rego has been pro­moted to COO of Jack­son South Com­mu­nity Hos­pi­tal in Mi­ami, part of Jack­son Health Sys­tem.

In this newly cre­ated po­si­tion, Bor­rego, 30, will over­see hos­pi­tal op­er­a­tions. He most re­cently served as as­sis­tant VP of op­er­a­tions for Jack­son South. In the role, he helped lead the open­ing of the fa­cil­ity’s Level 2 trauma cen­ter last year. Pre­vi­ously, he was di­rec­tor of cor­po­rate ini­tia­tives for Jack­son Health.

John Hart has been named VP and chief in­tegrity of­fi­cer at Loy­ola Medicine in May­wood, Ill. He re­places Cari Reed, who left to serve as chief com­pli­ance of­fi­cer at Op­tion Care, a ther­apy ser­vice provider based in Buf­falo Grove, Ill.

Hart, 58, will over­see all au­dit­ing and com­pli­ance func­tions at the sys­tem. He most re­cently served as clin­i­cal en­ter­prise in­tegrity of­fi­cer at Ore­gon Health & Sci­ence Univer­sity in Port­land. Be­fore join­ing OHSU, Hart was chief au­dit and com­pli­ance of­fi­cer at the Univer­sity of North Carolina Health Care.
