Making the list

To select the 13th annual ranking of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders, Modern Healthcare accepted nominations from Jan. 30 to March 3, 2017. The online nomination process asked for reader input on specific judging criteria, including executive responsibility, leadership qualities, professional achievement inside and outside of their respective organizations, innovation and community service.

Between March 27 and April 28, readers voted on their top choice; readers could only vote for one candidate to make the top 50 list. Nearly 65,000 votes were tallied for this year’s program.

As in previous years, readers’ votes accounted for 50% of the outcome in determining the final ranking. The other 50% was based on insights from Modern Healthcare’s senior editors.
