A Cleveland Clinic executive has been hired as CEO of the Inova Health System in Virginia.

Dr. J. Stephen Jones, currently president of Cleveland Clinic Regional Hospitals and Health Centers, will become Inova’s chief executive and a member of its board of trustees, effective April 9, succeeding Knox Singleton. He will oversee 17,500 employees, five hospitals and an integrated network of healthcare facilities that serve more than 2 million people annually.

At the clinic, Jones oversees the system’s 11 regional hospitals, 23 ambulatory centers and more than 24,000 caregivers and medical staff. He became president of the system’s regional hospitals in late 2014 and led a strategic transforma­tion to improve quality and safety metrics, expand services, increase telemedici­ne, establish 24 Express Care Locations and rebrand all hospitals under the Cleveland Clinic name, according to the release.
