Week Ahead is using the summer slowdown in Washington, D.C., and the end of earnings season to bring you some public service announcements.

AUG. 13: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is hosting a webinar titled, “Implementing Genomics in a Direct-to-Consumer World: Opportunities for Education and Communication.” The agency hopes to help viewers learn how to better design and disseminate evidence-based information for providers to help consumers. “Despite enthusiasm to use genetic and genomic testing among a growing number of clinicians and patients, there are significant gaps in the knowledge and skills necessary to assess risk and communicate about the utility, risks and limitations of genetic and genomic testing. Compounding this problem is lack of evidence about the effectiveness of existing genetic education materials,” the CDC noted in the webinar’s marketing material. You can check it out at cdc.gov/genomics/events.
