August 5, 1949 ~ December 7, 2020 Morgan Hill

Diana was born in Monterey to Ralph and Clarice Moffett. She is survived by her mother, Clarice Moffett, and her brothers, Robert Moffett (Denise) and Richard Moffett. Also, by her husband, Nelson Powell, M.D., and her sons, Scott Powell and Christopher Powell (Tiffany). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Hailey, Riley, and Claire. Diana was a loving stepmother to Rhonda, Angela, and Christina, and numerous step-grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Diana grew up in Pacific Grove and was class Valedictorian and First Chair Clarinet at Pacific Grove High along with being Honored Queen of Job’s Daughters. She earned a degree in Dental Hygiene at Cabrillo College and moved to Sacramento where she met the love of her life, Nelson Powell. As Nelson furthered his education to become a world-renowned surgeon, Diana supported their growing family as a hygienist, teacher, and mentor to many. Her love for being a beautiful wife, a loving mother, and helping others grew each day. She devoted time to supporting Sunday flowers at St. Bede’s Episcopal Church in Menlo Park, Prevent Blindness Foundation, and various other organizations. Diana loved interior decorating and landscape design; her homes were always beautiful and her gardens gorgeous. Genealogy was also a great passion for Diana. She spent hours researching the Moffett Family Tree, including countless trips to Salt Lake City to do research and travels to obscure locations across the country following branches of the tree.

Starting as a child, Diana loved the San Francisco Giants. She became a season ticket holder in 1989; the joy she had when they won the World Series in 2010 was something for the ages. Watching the Giants play by the shores of McCovey Cove was always a happy place for her. Diana will be missed by many.
