October 5, 1950 – March 4, 2021 Pacific Grove

-

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of our beloved son, brother and cousin, Ramon Anthony Ayres, who peacefully passed away on March 4, 2021, at the Stanford University Medical Center, Palo Alto, CA from continuing medical complications. Ray lived on the Monterey Bay Peninsula all his life. After graduating from Pacific Grove High School in 1969, he enlisted in the US Navy “to see the big blue oceans.” As it turned out, he was stationed at the Fallon Naval Air Station in the Nevada desert for four years of active duty during the Vietnam War, he then completed two more years of inactive duty back home in Pacific Grove, CA. Upon return from service in 1973, he married and started his gardening business while attending horticultural classes at the Monterey Peninsula College. During the years that followed, he obtained his California Landscape Contractor’s License and owned/ operated Ayres Landscaping for 38 years, receiving numerous awards for his landscaping designs. After his retirement, he remained on the Peninsula which he loved very much. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Ayres, and survived by his father, Tony Ayres of Pacific Grove, CA and his two sisters and brothers in law, Rosann & Bill Lopes of Grayland, WA and Laurie & Roger Snaith of Sydney, Australia, partner Christine Bava of Seaside, CA and many cousins and friends. One thing about Ramon, he was always ready and willing to tell a good joke. We are grateful for the time we spent with Ramon laughing and sharing childhood memories during numerous family meals together. He had previously made a choice to donate his body to the Willed Body Program, University of California San Francisco/School of Medicine. An incredibly generous gift that can touch many lives. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, an immediate family memorial service via zoom will be held to celebrate Ramon’s life. Although Ramon will be greatly missed by his family and friends, his memory will live on.
